Montefano Church of Our Lady of the Assumption
The church built in 1300, subsequently annexed to the Convent of the Mantellate nuns, was rebuilt in 1703. A wooden altarpiece is preserved inside depicting "Our Lady of the Rosary or Our Lady with enthroned child" by the Venetian school and dated back to 16th century. The altarpiece depicts Our Lady crowned by two angels handing the Rosary to Saint Catherine of Siena kneeling down on her left, on the right, the Bishop Saint Donatus, gives her a castle on a tray probably "Montefano". On the right altar, we can admire a canvas by Simone de Magistris, representing "The Assumption of the Virgin" (1569-1570).
