The church was built at the same time as the Monastery of the Poor Clares in 1592, then it was enlarged in 1789 most likely on a project by the architect, Andrea Vici d’Arcevia, follower of Vanvitelli. The interior is in typical late Baroque style and particularly impressive is the wood inlay of the doors by Cristoforo Casari dating back to 1796. On the main altar there is The Immaculate Conception with Child and Saints painted by the Sicilian artist Onofrio Gabriello in 1695. On the left, there is the opening in the gate where the Poor Clares received communion; the gate is from the 13th century, richly decorated in the grotesque style. In the apse (visible on rare occasions) is the wood choir made by Gaetano Matteucci and Giovanni Rossini in 1775. To complete the church décor is the splendid choir loft in multi-coloured gilded wood and decorated with flower motifs. On the top there is the Franciscan emblem at centre and four cherub musicians on the sides. Inside, there is an organ made by Francesco Giulietti from Ortezzano in 1799, restored and given back to the community in 2009. 1592 1789 extension Andrea Vici d’Arcevia.
