Montecassiano Cerreto Park
Cerreto Park is underneath the walls that face toward the Sibylline Mountains. It occupies an area of about 3 acres and it has a green expanse with a herbarium and a picnic area. Its name comes from the ancient Cerreto Gate that is set back from the castle walls and has a central brattice and reconstructed battlements. On the right side of the gate, for defence reasons, there is an abutment tower, now shortened for residential use. This green oasis next to the historical town centre, contains many plant species typical of the Mediterranean such as the pine, oak, mulberry, laurel, oleander and numerous aromatic plants.
