Esanatoglia Church of Saint Anatolia

The church was built in 1311 by Reverend Bentivoglio, abbot of the Monastery of Saint Angelo. The portal dates back to the 8th century. In the 16th century, the church was made into a Collegiate church by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese. In the 18th century it was restored and the façade was modified. Notary documents mention a porch, which has since disappeared, and bequests for the construction of a bell tower where a Roman inscription has been walled-in. Between the 18th and 19th centuries, the interior was decorated with frescoes portraying the Contemplation of the Column, the Birth of the Baptist, Saint Anthony, Saint Cataldo, Saint Francis and Saint Anatolia. After the earthquake of 1997, the church was completely restored. 13th and 14th centuries.
