Treia Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio

Santa Maria del Suffragio, neoclassical Church with a triangolar map, was built with the help of devotee. Carlo Casinelli offered the two houses in which area was built the blessed church by the Prelate Carlo Francesco Aquaticci and it was committed by the Bishop of Camerino on 26th April 1716. There was already in Treia “La Compagnia del Suffragio” erected since 1696 in the Chiesa Collegiata. In 1698 it was been joined with the Arciconfraternita di S. Maria del Suffragio of Rome, as results from the scroll of Cardinale Pietro Ottoboni, vice-chancellor of S. Romana Chiesa and Protettore dell’Arciconfraternita, during the pontificate of Innocenzo XII.

In the major altar there is a painting of canvas, representing the Virgin with Child Jesus in womb; near there are San Carlo Borromeo, some Angels and a man with the company clothing, representing the benefactor Carlo Casinelli whom with a vase pours water over the souls of the Purgatory. On the right altar there is a painting of the Virgin with the Child in womb, decorated by a beautiful frame of gold wood.

In the two chapels near the entry, on the left there is a painting that represents “La resurrezione di Lazzaro” and on the right another that represents “Il miracolo di Gesù” to the widow od Naim.
